UV-C Surface and Air Disinfection
Additional Protection to Visitors, Staff and Patients at Beijing Forestry University Hospital
Customer Challenge
At Beijing Forestry University, disinfection was needed for several zones, which required an integrated disinfection solution for both surfaces and air. The hospital provides a 24/7 service, which demands a highly-flexible operation with the capacity to disinfect surfaces in rotating rooms. In addition, continuous air disinfection was required in public zones including the lobby and reception areas, and a mobile disinfection method for storage.
The Solution
The total solution is a combination of UV-C disinfection upper-air, battens, chamber, and trolleys that provide an effective disinfection whilst respecting the safety of spaces. Several areas were identified, as to tailor the right solution to each of the applications. In the hospital, upper air luminaires were installed in the waiting halls, battens in the rooms, and trollies in other areas. In the canteen, bare battens without sensors were chosen for the food processing room and dining hall. In total, 50 products were installed: 40 battens in rooms, seven upper air solutions in the lobby and reception, two trollies and one chamber.

Three sizes of the Philips UV-C disinfection chamber are available. These can be used to disinfect items such as smartphones, handheld devices, and other everyday objects by destroying the bacteria’s ability to multiply and spread disease.
UV-C disinfection trolley
The Philips UV-C disinfection trolley is designed to disinfect professional surfaces. It offers a coverage of 20m2 square area or 36m2 circular area, depending on the type of trolley selected.
